“And the earth moved.”

The past week has been quite busy for the state of Maryland. Last week, our area felt the effects of a 5.8 earthquake. Over the weekend, we experienced a close (albeit rainy) brush with Hurricane Irene.

I’m here to say that I am probably the only person in the area who did not feel the earthquake. Nothing. Nada. Not even a blip on the Julie radar screen. Everyone around me had stories of where they were when “the quake of 2011″ hit….tales of walls shaking, objects falling off the shelves in their offices, evacuations. But for me, it was just another ordinary day.

And I’m ok with that.

I have no desire to feel the earth move, thank you very much.

Dan and I are on vacation this week. We’re not heading out until later in the week but any day off work is STILL vacation, don’t you think? So this morning, Dan arranged to have his car detailed which meant I needed to make a trip to Frederick to pick him up after the drop off.

When he got into my car, he turned to me, smiled, and said, “do you want to be bad?” When we were teenagers and he asked that question, it had entirely different connotations. But after a lifetime of living with this man, I KNEW it meant only one thing: diet blowing, fat-gram-and-calorie-loaded decadence.

On this morning, our first day of vacation, we were bad to the bone!

And as I inhaled two (yes TWO!!) cream filled eclairs from Dunkin’ Donuts……

I felt the earth move!!!
